No Doubt wannabe band fix.

STEFY is a band with the energy of No Doubt, and an incredibly sexy front woman, Stefy Rae, who combines the brashness of Pink and the commanding stage presence of Debbie Harry. Rae is bold and captivating as the focal point of the electro-infused rock band, STEFY.

Whether singing about moving on from a torrid relationship, getting over a boy who is as fake as Orange Crush, or lamenting about a pair of teens in Orange County who lose their innocence too early, Rae's melodic voice has a subtle force, making it the only aspect of this band that isnt totally in-your-face. With Sean Meyer (guitar), Jason Gaviati (keys) and Jordan Plotsky(drums), STEFY unleashes a barrage of pop hooks and electric rock energy on their album and on stage.

Rae credits her quirky, Bolivian grandmother who was also a singer, with inspiring her to pursue her dream.(Via the STEFY website.) For more STEFY click here.

I know the picture is not clear but, SPITZ rocks my nation! I ordered the Falfelite combo. The combo I ordered comes with a fountain drink and the most awesome pita chips. The chips have just the right amount of seasoning. They also make their own ice cream, gelatos and sorbets. I had the strawberry sorbet which was quite yummy. SPITZ is located in Eagle Rock at 2506 Colorado Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90041. For more info click here.

I went to the P.C.C. Flea Market that is held every first Sunday of every month. Some old dude yelled at me for taking pictures so you had better appreciate this one. For more info on the P.C.C. Flea Market click here.
Is this the landscape of some hostile faraway planet? No, it was the worst bowl of split pea soup i've ever had in my life. It was more like refried beans than any kind of soup i've ever seen in my life. This catastrophe was served to me at Carrow's in South Pasadena.

February 05, 2007 (IDG News Service) -- Apple Inc., the computer and digital music company, has bought rights to all "Apple" trademarks from Apple Corps. Ltd., the record company set up by The Beatles, ending a long-running trademark dispute between the two. However, there was no word on whether Apple will soon begin selling The Beatles' music through its iTunes Store. Whatever!

I've started to eat meat once a week because i don't want my bones to break and junk. I decided I would make the most of it and seek out some interesting places to have my weekly bovine fix. I had heard about the Oinkster and how delicious their burgers were and the fact that they offer blanched fries and gruyere cheese on their burgers. Well, this was either the best burger I had ever eaten or I just hadn't had one in so long I forgot what they taste like. The fries were nicely cooked with just the right amount of crunchiness and flavoring. I made an oinkster out of myself at the Oinkster. For more info on the Oinkster click here.
Just because.
I spent my birthday watching Atomic Nancy from the original Atomic Cafe spin records for the first time since the Atomic Cafe closed in 1989. Sorry the picture is not totally clear.

Bo Pepper are one hot rocking band! Uh-huh! Bo Pepper's lead singer is very bossy and she sings, plays minikorg and guitar. Nick Cartwheel joins her on the guitar and plays all the hard bits, Will. E. Nailor is on bass and Jonny Dangerous is on drums. They are quite lazy but when they make music it is good. Their influences are The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes and knitted folk. They've been playing some dirty mean dives in West Hollywood, CA but are back in London, clean and fresh pressed and ready to assault them airwaves. Bo Pepper's video for their astonishingly better than good song, "Buses" is currently on rotation at MTV FLUX. They are also on Coke/Itunes podcast and XFM DJ Eddie-Temple Morris has handpicked them for the Coke/Itunes unisgned bands album which will be out some time before January. 2007 will be the year that Bo Pepper make it massive. That's how they roll... For more info click here.

"LOS ABANDONED are leading the new wave of pomo, post-punk, Latino L.A." - Josh Kun, SF Bay Guardian/Boston Phoenix

Blondie meets Cafe Tacuba:
From Los Angeles to Chile to around the world and back again, LOS ABANDONED reunites the Casio keyboard with gritty electric guitars and the bittersweet ukulele in
their post-punk/latin alternative influenced sound. This fierce combo features the classically trained, bilingual punk rock diva LADY P. on vocals and ukulele, along with DON VERDE, co-songwriter and ace lead guitarist. With a rhythm section composed of the
unstoppable VIRA LATA on bass and DULCE on drums, LOS ABANDONED is taking over the scene with their bilingual blend of hooky, high-energy pop/rock and retro-folklore sounds. Since 2002, their groundbreaking self-produced/released EPs and their no-holds-barred live shows have earned them accolades in the press and won them space in the hearts of thousands of fans. Whether caught live or on disc, Los Abandoned's knack for hard-rocking riffs, catchy melodies and cheeky lyrics is sure to transport even the most jaded listener to an alternate reality of heartbreak, secret crushes and art school stalkings. The band has performed tirelessly, sharing bills with the likes of Cafe Tacuba, Tegan & Sara, Garbage, the Breeders, Molotov and Julieta Venegas.
Look out for their first full-length album "Mix Tape" in 2006 on Vapor Records.
