The White Stripes have released a limited edition Icky Thump USB Flash Drive - Jack & Meg Set




Each is a USB 2.0 flash drive with a 512-megabyte capacity. The drive contains 13 tracks as well as additional space.They only produced 3,333 Meg drives and 3,333 Jack drives so if you're interested you better order them quick. The White Stripes have announced that they will play a "very special show" in Los Angeles next Wednesday (June 20).
To celebrate the release of their new album, 'Icky Thump', the band are constructing an 'Icky Thump' Records store at 8801 W. Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood at the former site of the flagship Tower Records.

The band will play their first LA show since 2005 at 'Icky Thump' Records for the first 200 fans who pick up the record at the store, which opens at midnight on Monday (June 18).

Discovery Channel Stores is projecting that it will shutter all its stores by October



In a statement announcing the closures, Discovery president and CEO David Zaslav said the move will enable Discovery to focus on its high-growth e-commerce and licensing operations "by eliminating our owned and operated brick-and-mortar storefronts, which are cost-intensive and complicated businesses..."

Variety has probably given away what should have been a twist in Warner Bros' upcoming adaptation of Speed Racer. Below is both the non-spoiler and spoiler version of the casting update.

Speed Racer Picks Up Scott Porter

Scott Porter -- who you may know from Friday Night Lights, Ugly Betty or Descent -- has been picked up by Warner Bros. to play Rex, Speed Racer's older brother in (you guessed it) Speed Racer.

That basically sums up the update. So, for those of you looking for a little extra with a huge spoiler, check out the report in its entirety (highlight empty space below to read):
Porter will play Rex, the older brother to Speed Racer who fakes his death and returns as Racer X.

If you highlight the entire page, however, you'll see a ton of Ha Ha Ha's with some letters here and there that don't belong. Chicago radio D.J. (Electra: Queen of Snark) plays White Stripes new album before June 19th release date and gets a call from Mr. White personally from Spain to Reprimand her.




At 2pm today, during my show, Q101 became the first station in the world to play the new White Stripes album, Icky Thump. It's awesome. It's really, really, unbelievably brilliant and awesome. I was giddy and excited to share it with fellow fans.

At 4pm today, Jack White called Q101's main offices from Spain, where they're touring, looking specifically for me, to yell at me for leaking the album and, in part, being "messed up for the entire (music) business." (Edit - I listened to the call again today, and I apologize for initially misquoting Jack.) I felt like I was going to throw up. Weirdest, most surreal conversation of my life.

Mister Rogers made Thieves Think Twice.
According to a TV Guide piece on him, Fred Rogers drove a plain old Impala for years. One day, however, the car was stolen from the street near the TV station. When Rogers filed a police report, the story was picked up by every newspaper, radio and media outlet around town. Amazingly, within 48 hours the car was left in the exact spot where it was taken from, with an apology on the dashboard. It read, “If we’d known it was yours, we never would have taken it.”
