Bo Pepper are one hot rocking band! Uh-huh! Bo Pepper's lead singer is very bossy and she sings, plays minikorg and guitar. Nick Cartwheel joins her on the guitar and plays all the hard bits, Will. E. Nailor is on bass and Jonny Dangerous is on drums. They are quite lazy but when they make music it is good. Their influences are The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes and knitted folk. They've been playing some dirty mean dives in West Hollywood, CA but are back in London, clean and fresh pressed and ready to assault them airwaves. Bo Pepper's video for their astonishingly better than good song, "Buses" is currently on rotation at MTV FLUX. They are also on Coke/Itunes podcast and XFM DJ Eddie-Temple Morris has handpicked them for the Coke/Itunes unisgned bands album which will be out some time before January. 2007 will be the year that Bo Pepper make it massive. That's how they roll... For more info click here.

"LOS ABANDONED are leading the new wave of pomo, post-punk, Latino L.A." - Josh Kun, SF Bay Guardian/Boston Phoenix

Blondie meets Cafe Tacuba:
From Los Angeles to Chile to around the world and back again, LOS ABANDONED reunites the Casio keyboard with gritty electric guitars and the bittersweet ukulele in
their post-punk/latin alternative influenced sound. This fierce combo features the classically trained, bilingual punk rock diva LADY P. on vocals and ukulele, along with DON VERDE, co-songwriter and ace lead guitarist. With a rhythm section composed of the
unstoppable VIRA LATA on bass and DULCE on drums, LOS ABANDONED is taking over the scene with their bilingual blend of hooky, high-energy pop/rock and retro-folklore sounds. Since 2002, their groundbreaking self-produced/released EPs and their no-holds-barred live shows have earned them accolades in the press and won them space in the hearts of thousands of fans. Whether caught live or on disc, Los Abandoned's knack for hard-rocking riffs, catchy melodies and cheeky lyrics is sure to transport even the most jaded listener to an alternate reality of heartbreak, secret crushes and art school stalkings. The band has performed tirelessly, sharing bills with the likes of Cafe Tacuba, Tegan & Sara, Garbage, the Breeders, Molotov and Julieta Venegas.
Look out for their first full-length album "Mix Tape" in 2006 on Vapor Records.

I know that there were alot of sappy things written about Peter Boyle this past week by people who probably never really thought much about him other than his role he played on 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. But, for everyone else I offer this...

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Joe Barbera, half of the Hanna-Barbera animation team that produced such beloved cartoon characters as Tom and Jerry, Yogi Bear and the Flintstones, died Monday, a Warner Bros. spokesman said. He was 95.

Barbera died of natural causes at his home with his wife Sheila at his side, Warner Bros. spokesman Gary Miereanu said.

With his longtime partner, Bill Hanna, Barbera first found success creating the highly successful Tom and Jerry cartoons. The antics of the battling cat and mouse went on to win seven Academy Awards, more than any other series with the same characters.

The partners, who teamed up while working at MGM in the 1930s, then went on to a whole new realm of success in the 1960s with a witty series of animated TV comedies, including "The Flintstones," "The Jetsons," "Yogi Bear," "Scooby-Doo" and "Huckleberry Hound and Friends."(AP Photo/ Douglas Pizac) (Story via AP).

...And I shall shed my light over dark evil... For dark things cannot stand the light... The light of the Green Lantern! Those are the words that were spoken by one of the most famous comic book heroes ever. That character was created by Martin Nodell. Martin Nodell passed away this weekend (Sat. Nov. 09, 2006). Martin Nodell started working in comic books in 1938 as a freelance artist. He then joined DC comics where he created the Green Lantern. He then left DC to join Timely Comics. Timely Comics would eventually become Marvel Comics and that is where he worked on characters like Sub-Mariner and Captain America. He retired in 1976. R.I.P.

The Queen Haters were quite possibly the greatest punk rock band on earth. Actually, they were the greatest band that never was. With Martin Short on vocals, Eugene Levy on Guitar, Andrea Martin on rhythm guitar, Joe Flaherty on bass and John Candy on drums they appeared on Mel's Rockpile (a recurring sketch on SCTV) and proceeded to rock the house with their one and only song "I Hate The Bloody Queen". With lyrics like "I'd like to drown the Queen! Off the coast of Argentine. Throw her off a battleship With her Falkland war machine! She taxes me to death I can't afford me dope. I'd like to get her high Yeah, that would make me laugh." I can't understand why they didn't actually release a single. Couldn't have been any worse than some of the other drivel that was coming out at the time like "Puttin' on the Ritz" by Taco.

Have you ever wanted to take the Beatles and mash them up beyond recognition? Well, the Beatles(s) have a new CD out with (legal) mash-ups of their own songs called Love. The songs are mash-ups in the sense that they consist of parts from different pre-existing tracks to make up one cohesive musical track or song. But, the fact that they are just Beatles songs mashed up with other Beatles songs kind of seems a bit lame to me. Other projects like The Beastles (click here) and the Beachles (click here) are so much more interesting and imaginative. For more on this cd click here.
